Reviews
Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for Longborough Festival Opera
“All of this would have been nothing without the tremendous cast…And above all the vital Rosina of Lauren Young, spirited, resourceful, light on her feet, and with a coloratura that was truly impressive and a fullness of tone that could ping the highest notes above even the busiest of ensembles.”
(Christopher Morley, Opera Magazine)
Baba the Turk (The Rake’s Progress) for English Touring Opera
“Young, meanwhile, makes a really fine Baba, funny, self-assured, tellingly compassionate beneath the self-dramatisation.”
Tim Ashley (The Guardian)
Tisbe (Cinderella) for English Touring Opera
“Cinderella’s sisters were brilliantly cast with Nazan Fikret (Clorinda) and Lauren Young (Tisbe), fully deserving the duet from Semiramide interpolated into the score for the opening of Act 2. La Cenerentola is Rossini’s masterpiece…but when you have singers as accomplished as this in comprimario parts, why not flaunt them?”
(Hugh Canning, Opera Magazine)
